HELPING YOU BREATHE BETTER
Breathe easier and get back into life…Better breathing for better life.
breathbank’s pulmonary rehabilitation programs help you regain control breathing problems caused by moderate to severe lung disease. If you’re being considered for lung transplant surgery, Pulmonary rehabilitation can help you meet the requirements for the lung transplant waiting list, strengthen you for the surgery, and help you recover from the procedure.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation includes exercise classes and education about your lung disease or condition. PR may help you participate in activities with less shortness of breath and teach you how to “live” better with your lung condition. Additional education helps you:
Reduce and control breathing difficulties and other symptoms.
Learn more about your disease, treatment options, and chronic disease coping strategies.
Learn to manage your disease by understanding and using your medications properly.
Maintain healthy behaviors such as smoking cessation, good nutrition, and exercise.
Who Benefits From Pulmonary Rehabilitation?
Shortness of Breath and Fatigue from Lung Disease
If you have shortness of breath and fatigue due to chronic lung disease, you are a potential candidate for pulmonary rehabilitation. This is true whether you are in a wheelchair, an oxygen, or otherwise physically impaired. Pulmonary rehabilitation won’t cure your disease or help you get off oxygen. But we can help you learn how to overcome the shortness of breath and fatigue you associate with exercise.
Benefits of Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Studies document the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation include:
Decreased number of hospitalizations.
Decreased length of stay during needed hospitalizations
Reduced length of stay needed hospitalizations
Increased individual exercise tolerance
Reduced dependency on others
Decreased shortness of breath
Monitored and Supervised Exercise
People who have chronic lung disease are more prone to depression, anxiety, and other emotional difficulties. Our program addresses these issues and offers support resources, if needed.
Psychological Support
A physical activity plan is tailored to your needs. Exercise will help improve your endurance and muscle strength, so you’re better able to carry out daily activities.
Pulmonary rehabilitation offered to individuals with chronic respiratory diseases other than COPD has demonstrated improvements in symptoms, exercise tolerance, and quality of life

Following your physician referral, an initial evaluation will be scheduled.

Medical history (to determine if you can benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation).

Physical abilities and oxygen levels (measured with a noninvasive oxygen monitor).
Symptoms (e.g., shortness of breath, cough, fatigue) and medications,

Your All-Inclusive Review
Once our comprehensive evaluation is completed, we will meet with you to discuss our summary of your results in person and provide an outline detailing the next steps.
